Wippenberg Never Fails!!!

Another wicked remix by one of my favourite progressive house/electronic DJ's, Wippenberg. The German producer/remixer/dj has come out with another massive remix that will be on the set list of most big DJ's this year, for sure! The chicks voice in the song is so wicked! Enjoy!!!

Benny Benassi @ Flames Central

So Friday February 12th had to be one of the best party nights Calgary has seen in awhile. The legendary Italian DJ/Producer,Benny Benassi, took over the decks at Flames Central. The acoustics in Flames Central were unreal as the sound of techno flourished amongst the crowd! With Alex Gaudino opening, it was a great start to the night.

The club set from Benny was nothing at all what I expected...it was so unreal! The entire set was compiled of tracks I have never heard before. The entire night was exactly defined in one word...TECHNO! There was hardly any vocals all night, just different synths and unreal basslines. Gauranteed he will be rocking the shit out of Calgary again soon. I have seen many world class DJ's in numerous venues but I have to say this was one of the best live shows I have ever seen.

I have attached one of the clips I took with my camera, not the best quality but it gives ya feel for the sound that night.

Here is a live set from him on the Diabolika New Cycle Radio Hour! So dope!

Benny Benassi - Diabolika New Cycle Sat (Jan. 22, 2010).mp3

From the 26:15 minute mark until the 31:30 minute mark is everything I love about electronic music! Its sheer genius! Unreal!

If Benny Benassi is ever in your city...you have to check it out!!!

2010 Grammy's

So as you all are aware, the 2010 Grammy Awards were on Sunday night and of course BEYONCE lead the way with 6 awards. Props, but now onto the good awards, there were a few famous Dj's at the Grammy's this year including David Guetta and Funkagenda. Here are some of dance/electronic awards (Winners in bold, nominated normal):

Best Electronic/Dance Album - The Fame (Lady Gaga), Divided By Night - The Crystal Method, One Love - David Guetta, Party Rock - LMFAO, and Yes - Pet Shop Boys. Quick shout out to Lady Gaga.....bruuuutal!

Best Dance Recording - Poker Face (Lady Gaga), Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas, When Love Takes Over - David Guetta, Celeberation - Madonna, Womanizer - Britney Spears

Best Remixed Recording - When Love Takes Over (Extended Electro Remix) - David Guetta, Don't Believe In Love (Objektivity Mix) - Dennis Ferrier, The Girl & The Robot (Royksopp Remix) - Jean Elan, I Want You (Dave Aude Remix) - Dave Aude, No You Girls (Trentemoller Remix) - Anders & Trentemoeller

I couldn't find the Grammy Funkagenda was nominated for but it obviously wasn't important. David Guetta with one Grammy, not bad but look at who is going against...POP stars...I like David Guetta but when they start grouping Electro stars with POP stars...there is a serious problem. Guetta needs to go back to his older stuff and relax with trying to infiltrate America (although he is doing wonders for electronic music over there and starting to get American's off their R&B/Hip-Hop craze). Just a thought!

Faaaaaake Blood!!!

Another post of another kick ass festival, this time its the "Les TransArdentes Winter Festival" located in just outside of Liege, Belgium! With tickets selling out in hours, it is one of Europe's first electronic festival of the year with sets from Laurent Garnier, Crookers, Laidback Luke, Zombie Nation, Fake Blood, Djedjotronic, and many many more.

The set I decided to post is from the English Electro DJ/Producer --- Fake Blood. He had a really big hit last summer that is on the 2009 Annual Ministry of Sound Album called "Mars". His set is an arrangement of house, tech house, jungle, and some shit I've never even heard before. I wasn't sure if I should post this as I'm not sure if you will like it. I think this post is going to be a hit or miss. Oh well, have a listen and leave me a comment with what ya think of it.

Live @ Les TransArdentes (Jan. 25, 2010) - Fake Blood.mp3

Fake Blood is actually going on a tour here in the next few months and will be hitting up HIFI in Calgary on March 9th with Boy-8-Bit. Two sweet acts in a tiny bar should make for some fun times. Definitely checking that show out! Enjoy!!!
